Duke University Institutional Statement of Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Duke aspires to create a community built on collaboration, innovation, creativity, and belonging. Our collective success depends on the robust exchange of ideas—an exchange that is best when the rich diversity of our perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences flourishes. To achieve this exchange, it is essential that all members of the community feel secure and welcome, that the contributions of all individuals are respected, and that all voices are heard. All members of our community have a responsibility to uphold these values.

Duke University Nondiscrimination Statement

Duke is committed to encouraging and sustaining a learning and work community that is free from prohibited discrimination and harassment. The institution prohibits discrimination on the basis of age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, financial aid, employment, or any other institution program or activity.

Duke University Title IX Statement

Title IX and its implementing regulations prohibit sex discrimination in education programs or activities receiving federal funds.

Procedures on Prohibited Discrimination, Harassment, and Related Misconduct

Members of the community are encouraged to raise concerns or questions related to harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, and related retaliation to the Office for Institutional Equity (☎ 919-684-8222 | ✉ oie-help@duke.edu | ⚠ Report an Incident). You can report anonymously, but doing so may impact the university’s ability to investigate and/or take disciplinary action.

The Office for Institutional Equity provides detailed steps to assist the Duke community with understanding the complaint process when concerns about harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct arise.

OIE is responsible for resolving, under the procedures referenced in the Policy on Prohibited Discrimination, Harassment, and Related Misconduct, all allegations of prohibited discrimination, harassment, and related misconduct.
